PRINCETON, N.J. -- The "second season" starts in earnest for Ivy League women's volleyball this weekend with the traditional back-to-back slate of conference matchups.

Columbia, Yale, Princeton and Dartmouth each started the Ivy schedule with wins this past weekend and look to build upon that going into the meat of the double round-robin schedule.

The Friday-Saturday ledger has Columbia and Dartmouth at home and Yale and Princeton on the road. The Lions host Brown and Yale, while the Big Green hosts Penn and Princeton. The Bulldogs complete their Empire State swing with Cornell Saturday evening and Princeton begins its weekend at Harvard.

A couple of non-League matches open the week Tuesday night with Harvard taking Holy Cross and Cornell clashing with Colgate on their home courts.

Ivy League in the NCAA Statistics
The Ivy League is among the NCAA Division I leaders in several individual and team statistical categories through matches of Sept. 23.

Penn junior libero Dani Shepherd continues to lead NCAA Division I in digs per set at 6.61 and has her Quakers at No. 1 spot in the nation as a team at 21.88. Yale is two spots behind the Quakers in third at 18.8 digs per set. Columbia senior middle blocker Heather Braunagel currently ranks 12th in hitting percentage at .433 and her Lion teammate, junior middle blocker Savannah Fletcher, sits 16th in blocks per set at 1.46. Cornell's duo of junior outside hitter Kelly Marble (15th, 0.51) and sophomore setter Kelly Reinke (67th, 0.41) are still pacing the League in aces per set and kept the Big Red in the top 10 in the country at No. 10 with a 1.79 average. Yale junior setter Kendall Polan (Cardiff, Calif.) posted back-to-back triple-doubles to lead the Bulldogs to wins over Albany and Brown.

Against Albany, Polan tallied a match-high 28 assists while hitting .667 with 10 kills and 13 digs in a 3-0 victory over the defending America East champion. In the conference opener at Brown, she showcased her defensive skills with a team-high 20 digs in a 3-1 win over the Bears. She also added 10 kills and a match-best 31 assists. In the deciding fourth set, Polan helped the Bulldogs come from behind with three assists during a 4-0 run to give Yale a 16-14 lead.

Polan leads the team and ranks fifth overall in the Ivy League in assists per set on the team that leads the Ivies in hitting percentage.

Polan earns her second Player of the Week award this year (Sept. 4) and her fourth overall after winning twice as a sophomore (Sept 6. and Oct. 4, 2011). She won five Rookie of the Week honors in 2010 en route to being voted Ivy League Rookie of the Year.

Caldwell was at her best in Penn's 3-2 win over Delaware, tying for a team-high with 15 kills while also adding 25 assists and 16 digs.

She came back against Princeton with 10 kills, 16 assists and 12 digs. Caldwell posted 21 assists, along with six kills and three digs, in a five-set loss to Towson. She also totaled nine block assists in the three contests.
