PRINCETON, N.J. -- Penn senior outfielder Leah Allen and senior pitcher Alexis Sargent were selected as the Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, after a 3-2 performance at the Under Armour Invitational. Princeton freshman outfielder Megan Donahey was named the Rookie of the Week. 


  • Harvard and Penn boast the top records in the Ivy League at 3-2 overall. Harvard accumulated the mark at the Eastern Michigan University Madeira Beach Invitational, while Penn tallied its victories at the Under Armour Invitational.
  • Six Ivies will participate in tournaments this weekend—Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Harvard, Princeton and Yale.
  • Penn's Alexis Sargent and Harvard's Sarah Smith own two victories in three appearances on the season. Sargent and Dartmouth's Breanna Ethridge top the Ivy League with 21 strikeouts.
  • Columbia's Madison Gott paces the League with three home runs, while Harvard's Maddy Kaplan boasts a League-high eight RBIs.
  • Six Ivies are hitting .500-or-above thus far: Princeton's Megan Donahey (.667), Cornell's Michiko McGivney (.625), Harvard's Maddy Kaplan (.588), Penn's Leah Allen (.579), Harvard's Rhianna Rich (.556) and Princeton's Allison Harvey (.500).

Penn senior outfielder Leah Allen (Woodbine, Md.) hit .579 with 11 hits in 19 at-bats to help Penn to a 3-2 start to the 2017 campaign.

The Woodbine, Md., native had a double, a triple, a home run and an RBI to go along with five runs scored and five stolen bases on the week. Her best performance was a 3-for-3 effort in an 11-1 loss to Ball State on March 3, when she had a double, a home run, an RBI and a run scored. With this week's statistics, Allen moved to the top of Penn's career home run (25) and stolen base (46) lists. Her eighth career triple also put her into a three-way tie for second in program history.

Allen is the first Quaker student-athlete to be named Player of the Week since Jurie Joyner on April 26, 2016.

Penn senior pitcher Alexis Sargent (Alexandria, Va.) tallied 21 strikeouts over 18 1/3 innings as the Quakers earned a 3-2 mark at the Under Armour Invitational.

The Alexandria, Va., native earned a pair of wins despite allowing 19 hits, four walks and six earned runs across three appearances. The senior produced a 2.29 ERA—thanks largely to a 7 2/3 inning outing against Towson on March 5, in which she allowed zero earned runs on five hits.

Sargent last earned Pitcher of the Week honors for the Quakers on April 26, 2016.

Princeton freshman outfielder Megan Donahey (Phoenix, Ariz.) hit .667, leading the Tigers with six hits in nine at-bats.

The Phoenix, Ariz., native was a spark plug for the Tigers in a four-game weekend, adding a triple, two runs scored and two RBIs in her first collegiate action. Her best effort came in Princeton's lone victory, a 9-5 win over Sam Houston State on March 4. The freshman went 3-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI in the victory.

Donahey is the first Princeton student-athlete to be selected as the Rookie of the Week since Ashley LaGuardia on March 24, 2015.
