PRINCETON, N.J. -- Yale's Ben Reeves was named Ivy League Player of the Week, while Princeton's Michael Sowers earned Rookie of the Week, the league announced today. 


  • As a league, the Ancient Eight is 18-21 in non-conference action, for a winning percentage of .461.
  • Yale sits atop of the league standings with a perfect 3-0 Ivy League mark, while Princeton is 2-1 in Ancient Eight action. Harvard (1-1) and Brown (1-1) are tied for third.
  • Princeton is ranked No. 13 in this week's Nike/USILA Coaches' Poll and 15th in the latest Inside Lacrosse Poll. Yale is No. 17 in both polls. Penn is receiving votes in the Inside Lacrosse Poll. 
  • The Ivy League has registered three wins against opponents ranked in the top-20, while six losses against ranked teams have been decided by two goals or less.
  • The impact of freshmen is being felt across the Ancient Eight this season. Michael Sowers paces the way with 24 goals, while Cornell's Jeff Teat and Connor Fletcher and Yale's Matt Gaudet have each added 16 apiece. 
  • Michael Sowers leads Princeton with 51 points, making him the 21st player in program history to reach the 50-point mark for a season. He is the first freshman to do so, and has done so in nine career games. Sowers need four more goals to tie the school freshman goal record, held by Mike Chaenchuk.
  • Brown senior Dylan Molloy is 26 points shy of becoming Brown's all-time leading scorer. The senior has 290 career points to rank second behind Darren Lowe '92.
  • Four Ivy Leaguers - Princeton's Michael Sowers (3rd, 5.67), Harvard's Morgan Cheek (5th, 5.44), Brown's Dylan Molloy (6th, 5.38) and Yale's Ben Reeves (8th, 5.14) - rank in the top-10 in the country in points per game. 
  • Dartmouth is third in the nation in caused turnovers, forcing 10.50 turnovers per game. Timmy Burke (1.50) and Kyle Clampitt (1.50) pace the Big Green in forcing turnovers per game. 
  • Walt Gahagan of Cornell ranks ninth nationally in caused turnovers forcing 2.00 per game.
  • Princeton ranks second in the country in scoring offense and is averaging 25.11 points per game. Brown sits in fifth with 23.00 points per game.
  • Brown's Ted Ottens and Yale's Conor Mackie rank 14-15, respectively, in the country in face-off winning percentage. Ottens wins 59.2 percent of his attepts, while Mackie owns a .590 winning percentage.
  • This week's schedule features non-conference battles with Yale taking on St. John's and Princeton visiting Stony Brook. Ancient Eight action is highlighted by Penn at Brown and Cornell at Harvard.

Ben Reeves (Macdeon, N.Y.) led Yale to its fourth straight victory with a 14-12 win over Penn at Franklin Field. Reeves netted a career-high five goals while dishing out two assists and picking up two ground balls. Penn pulled within one, 7-6, late in the third, but the Bulldogs responded with six straight goals. Reeves notched three of his goals and four points over that game-winning span.

Princeton's Michael Sowers (Dresher, Pa.) earned his fourth weekly award as the freshman continues his stellar season. Sowers netted five goals and handed out four assists to tally nine points for the second time this season as the Tigers' defeated Brown, 21-11. Sowers became the first Princeton freshman in program history to have at least 20 goals and 20 assists, making him the fastest player ever to reach 50 points.
