Princeton Leads After Day 1 of Men's Golf Championship

BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- After one day of the 2015 Ivy League Men’s Golf Championship, Princeton has jumped out to an six-stroke lead.

The Tigers shot a 301 to take the day-one lead. Princeton was paced by freshman Michael Davis, who shot a one-over 73 to end the day tied for second. Davis ended with a surge, going two under in the front nine (all teams started at the 10th tee). Sophomore Quinn Prchal and freshman Marc Hedrick ended tied four fourth after they each carded a three-over 75.

Penn’s senior Austin Powell, a member of the 2014 All-Ivy second team, holds the individual lead at even par. Powell was two-under on his back nine, including sinking a birdie on on, three, four and five. The Quakers are tied for second overall with Columbia.

The Lions have four golfers in the top ten. Sophomore Christopher Chu is four over and tied for eighth, while sophomores Harrison ShihArjuna Anday and Mert Selamet are all tied for 10th at five over.

The rest of the leader board has Dartmouth and Yale tied for fourth, Harvard in sixth, Brown in seventh and Cornell in eighth. Freshman Eric Wung leads the Big Green and is tied for fourth at three over.Senior Will Davenport sits in third overall at three over and the Big Red’s freshman Mike Graboyes is also tied for fourth.  

The men will tee off at 9:50 a.m. again to start the second round, and will open at the tenth hole.
