PRINCETON, N.J. -- Columbia, Dartmouth, Harvard and Princeton all played in the McLaughlin Invitational on Sept. 16 and 17 at Bethpage Red in Farmingdale, N.Y. In the 18-team field, the Big Green finished sixth to lead the Ivy contingent, followed by Harvard (eighth), Columbia (ninth) and Princeton (14th). Peter Williamson (73-63-70) and Charlie Edler (68-67-71) led Dartmouth to its strong showing by tying for third with three-round totals of 206. Williamson turned in an impressive 63 in the second round of action.
Cornell opened its 2011-12 season at the St. Bonaventure hosted Leo Keenan Invitational on Sept. 18 and 19. The Big Red turned in a fifth place showing in the 11-team tournament, which was played at the Bartlett CC in Olean, N.Y. Sophomore Craig Esposito shot a two-over par 142 (73-69) to tie for fifth and lead the Big Red.
Dartmouth also joined Yale and Brown to compete for the Adams Cup on Sept. 19 and 20. The first 36 holes of the three-round tournament were played at the par-72, 7,244 yard Newport National Golf Club, while the final round was played at the par-71, 6,675 yard Carnegie Abbey Country Club. Yale paced the Ivies by finishing third, while Dartmouth finished seventh and Brown 18th. Dartmouth’s Williamson and Yale sophomore Sam Bernstein finished tied for fourth at four-under-par.
