    The Penn baseball team captured its fourth all-time Ivy League Lou Gehrig Division title—and first since 2007—in Sunday's 6-3 win over Columbia in the one-game playoff held at Robertson Field. The Quakers used three home runs on the day and six strong innings from senior Jake Cousins to power past the Lions and advance to the best-of-three Ivy League Championship Series next weekend against Red Rolfe Division champion Yale.

Dartmouth senior right-handed pitcher Beau Sulser earned Pitcher of the Week accolades with a seven-inning complete-game shutout performance against Harvard.
  • Columbia Stuns Penn Twice to Force Gehrig Division Playoff

    With two more come-from-behind victories at Penn Saturday, the Columbia baseball team caught the Quakers (22-20, 12-8) in the Gehrig Division standings to force a one-game playoff for the third time in the last four seasons. The Lions (18-22, 12-8) exploded for nine runs in the sixth inning of game one to erase a two-run deficit and claim a 14-4 victory. In the finale, Columbia trailed by three early, but hung around long enough to earn the series win.
  • Penn Drops Two to Force One-Game Playoff

    The Penn baseball team needed just one win Saturday to clinch its first Ivy League Gehrig Division title since 2007, but Columbia had other plans, as the Quakers dropped both ends of the doubleheader, 14-4 and 7-5. This weekend's games conclude conference play and both Columbia and Penn finished in a tie atop the division at 12-8, forcing a one-game playoff at Robertson Field with the winner advancing to the Ivy League Championship Series. Date and time will be announced as soon as it becomes available.
  • Yale Clinches Second-Straight Red Rolfe Division Crown

    The Bulldogs clinched their second straight Red Rolfe Division title on Saturday afternoon. Yale split a doubleheader with Brown, and won game two, 10-2, to earn the division crown. With the win, the Bulldogs improved to a league-best 14-4 conference record and a 25-16 overall mark.

Penn senior right-handed pitcher Jake Cousins earned Pitcher of the Week accolades with a seven-inning complete-game shutout performance at Cornell.

Columbia sophomore left-handed pitcher Josh Simpson was named the Pitcher of the Week, while Johnson also took home Rookie of the Week honors.

    All eight Ivies will be in action this weekend, as the 2017 Ancient Eight baseball campaign commences. Seven-of-eight Ivies will return to the field for the first time on March 3 or 4, with Dartmouth being the lone exception. The Big Green opened its season on Feb. 25 with an 8-4 victory over Eastern Michigan.

  • Dartmouth Alum Hendricks Pitches Cubs to First World Series in 71 Years

    For the second-straight year an Ivy alum will feature in the Major League Baseball (MLB) World Series. Kyle Hendricks, a Big Green baseball alum and member of the Dartmouth Class of 2012, is headed to the World Series as a starting pitcher for the Chicago Cubs. The 26-year-old right-hander tossed 7 1/3 scoreless innings in Game 6 of the National League Championship Series (NLCS) to outduel three-time National League Cy Young Award winner Clayton Kershaw of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
