Ed Crane became the Ivy League's Coordinator of Softball Umpires
-- under the umbrella of the East Coast Umpire Association -- in
2006.
Currently a member of the NCAA Softball Umpire Improvement Program
National Staff, Crane's NCAA experience includes conference
championships for the following conferences -- Big East, Patriot,
Atlantic 10, Northeast 10, Empire 8 and SUNYAC. He has worked 10
NCAA Regionals, one Super Regional and one Division III National
Championship.
His ASA/ISF experience includes 13 National Championships, two
Olympic Festivals, the World Games in London, England, the
Maccabiah Games in Tel Aviv, Israel and one Women's World
Championship.
Crane is the New York State ASA Umpire in Chief and was inducted
into the New York State ASA Hall of Fame. His appointment as Umpire
in Chief of the East Coast Umpire Association came after serving as
the Deputy Umpire in Chief and rules interpreter for four
years.
Crane is a retired public school administrator. He has been
married for 36 years, and has four sons and one grandchild.
